Although the City of Arvada, situated in Jefferson and Adams Counties, has grown to be one of the metro area’s largest cities, it has retained its small-town feel and is one of the most desirable areas to live in the entire state. Arvada sits just off the I-70 corridor which provides residents a quick trip into downtown Denver and easy access to the ski resorts and mountain towns to the west. Like many cities in Colorado, Arvada traces its roots back to the gold rush as it began to grow as settlement to meet the requirements of the miners passing through the area. It was the Colorado Central Railroad passing nearby that really started the planning for the actual city. Arvada was incorporated in 1904 and was named after the middle name of the brother -in-law of one of the founders. Today, the city the city is home to more than 122,000 residents and encompasses nearly 40 square miles and features 3,400 acres of parks and open space that includes 122 neighborhood and city parks, over 230 miles of trails and bike lanes. For decades, Arvada has earned the distinction of being named Tree City USA by the National Arbor Foundation. Old Town Arvada is truly the heartbeat of this great city with its turn-of-the-century Main Street Americana ambiance. It’s array of shops, galleries, boutiques, restaurants, breweries, summer concerts and other events provides something for everyone. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Arvada’s quiet tree-lined streets, diverse economic base, and highly educated workforce makes this city an attractive choice for everyone. Home prices in Arvada have been accelerating.
